With just over three weeks left in the office, Biden has expressed regret over stepping aside in the 2024 Presidential election and choosing Merrick Garland as the US Attorney General.

Outgoing US President Joe Biden has reportedly expressed regret on stepping down from this year’s presidential race, according to White House sources.
Biden said he believed he would have defeated Donald Trump in the Nov 5 election despite negative poll predictions.

He further said he made a mistake in choosing Merrick Garland as attorney general, who he thinks have been slow in prosecuting 78-year-old Trump for his alleged role in attack on US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Earlier this year, Biden stepped aside and was replaced by his party’s nominee US Vice president Kamala Harris.

There was reportedly mounting pressure from fellow Democrats on Biden to step down after an embarrassing debate performance against his rival presidential candidate Trump.
Although Harris’ candidature saw an improved poll numbers, the contest ultimately ended in a decisive electoral college and popular vote defeat.
According to a report by the Washington Post, Biden and his supporters have been careful not to blame Harris, but believe the result would have been different if he had not left his candidature.
