Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has issued a heightened warning to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stating that he could face a fate similar to Saddam Hussein if Iran continues its attacks on Israeli civilians.
Katz made the remarks during a strategic briefing with top IDF commanders, referencing Saddam’s removal and execution following the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq.

The minister accused Khamenei of orchestrating "war crimes" and launching missiles at Israeli civilian areas, urging Iranian citizens to remember the fate of Saddam Hussein—who was eventually found in hiding and executed in 2006.
Katz also confirmed ongoing Israeli strikes against regime and military targets in Tehran, including the Iranian state broadcaster’s headquarters, and called on residents to evacuate those areas.
This warning comes amid broader regional conflict, with Israel targeting deep Iranian sites and Iran retaliating through missile barrages.
Analysts note that Iran's inner circle, including senior IRGC officials, has suffered intense losses, reportedly isolating Iran’s leadership.
While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the military operation and stated the strikes would continue, he declined to confirm any plans for assassination.
US President Donald Trump, meanwhile, indicated he had previously blocked an Israeli proposal to target Khamenei, even as he continues to back Israel’s larger military strategy
