US President Donald Trump launched a sharp attack on critics of the ongoing conflict with Iran, calling opposition to the war effort “treasonous” while defending his administration’s military actions as necessary to prevent a larger global catastrophe.
Speaking at events in West Palm Beach and The Villages in Florida, Trump said those who claim the United States is not winning the conflict are undermining national interests. He described such criticism as unacceptable, framing it as disloyal during a period of military engagement.

Trump argued that US military action had significantly weakened Iran’s capabilities and prevented it from developing nuclear weapons. He claimed that if Iran had succeeded in acquiring such weapons, the consequences would have been severe for multiple regions.
“If we didn’t act, they would have had a nuclear weapon… Europe, the Middle East would have been blown to pieces,” Trump said during his remarks.
He also asserted that Iran’s military infrastructure had been heavily degraded, including its air defence and naval capabilities, although these claims could not be independently verified in the speech.
The remarks come at a time of continued tension between the United States and Iran, with diplomatic efforts yet to produce a breakthrough. Trump indicated dissatisfaction with recent proposals from Tehran, suggesting that negotiations have not met US expectations.
“They want to make a deal, but I’m not satisfied,” he said, adding that uncertainty remains over whether an agreement can be reached.
The discussions between the two sides remain inconclusive, with both maintaining firm positions on key issues related to nuclear activity and regional security.
Trump’s comments mark one of his strongest rebukes of domestic critics since the conflict began. By labelling dissent as “treasonous”, he escalated political rhetoric around the war, signalling little tolerance for opposition narratives questioning the effectiveness of US actions.
While Trump has claimed progress in weakening Iran, there has been no official confirmation of a decisive outcome in the conflict. The long-term impact of US actions on Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities remains uncertain.
It also remains unclear whether diplomatic negotiations will resume or yield an agreement in the near term, as tensions continue in the region.
