Tamil actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay has returned the convoy vehicles allotted to him under chief minister-level security arrangements before his scheduled swearing-in, according to party sources and official reports.
As per the report, four vehicles assigned as part of the security protocol were sent back after Vijay communicated that he would not use official convoy arrangements until he is formally sworn in as chief minister.

The vehicles had been deployed in line with standard security planning following the post-election transition process in Tamil Nadu.
Police officials confirmed that the convoy was arranged as part of protocol-based security deployment and not due to any emergency withdrawal. However, following instructions from Vijay’s side, the vehicles were not used and were returned.
The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam stated that the decision reflects Vijay’s position that constitutional roles and associated privileges should only be exercised after formal swearing-in. Party representatives said he intends to accept full security arrangements only after officially assuming office.
Security arrangements had already been put in place at multiple locations, including near Vijay’s residence in Chennai, as part of standard procedures for a leader expected to take up the post of chief minister.
However, he did not use the government-provided convoy while engaging in post-election formalities, including meetings linked to government formation.
In India, chief minister-level security protocols typically include a designated convoy, armed protection, and logistical support, which are activated once a leader formally assumes office. In this case, arrangements were made in advance due to the anticipated change in leadership following the election outcome.
Party sources described the move as symbolic, indicating Vijay’s intent to maintain procedural discipline until the constitutional process of swearing-in is completed. Officials familiar with the matter said the convoy vehicles were returned without being used for any official movement.
The political situation in Tamil Nadu remains focused on the formal process of government formation, with procedural steps still underway before the new administration takes charge.
