Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 6 said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has focused on ensuring Assam’s prosperity, self-reliance, and global recognition, as he addressed an election rally in the state ahead of the Assembly polls.
Speaking at a public meeting in Barpeta, Modi said the past ten years of BJP rule in Assam were aimed at bringing peace and stability while addressing long-standing challenges. He said the government worked to take the state “out of difficulties and insecurity” and ensure protection of its identity.

“The 10 years of BJP rule in Assam were to bring peace and harmony, take the state out of difficulties and insecurity, and safeguard the state’s identity,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister added that the coming years would further strengthen Assam’s development trajectory. “The coming years will bring in more prosperity, self-reliance, and make the state recognised across the world,” he said while addressing the rally.
The remarks come as the BJP intensifies its campaign in poll-bound Assam, where voting is scheduled to take place soon. Modi addressed multiple rallies in the state as part of the party’s outreach to voters ahead of the elections.
During his address, the Prime Minister reiterated the party’s emphasis on development and governance, linking the state’s progress over the past decade to BJP-led administrations at both the Centre and the state level. He highlighted that the government’s efforts have been directed at ensuring stability and growth in the region.
The BJP has positioned development, infrastructure, and governance as key pillars of its campaign in Assam. Modi’s remarks at the rally reflected the party’s broader narrative of transformation and economic progress in the state under its rule.
The rally in Barpeta was part of a series of public meetings addressed by the Prime Minister during his visit to Assam. The campaign push comes amid a competitive electoral environment, with political parties stepping up outreach efforts across constituencies.
The Assam Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on April 9, with major political parties campaigning across the state to secure voter support. Modi’s address forms part of the BJP’s efforts to consolidate its position and highlight its governance record ahead of the polls.
