Akash Anand, the nephew and political successor of party leader Mayawati, is among those charged.
An FIR has been lodged against Akash Anand, the national coordinator of BSP, along with three Lok Sabha candidates from the party and 30 others. They are accused of delivering inflammatory speeches during a public meeting in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, as reported by the police on Monday.
Anand, who is the nephew of party leader Mayawati and her political successor, was the chief guest at the public meeting held at Raja College ground on Sunday. The police stated that his speech violated the model code of conduct.
“The case has been registered under relevant sections against Akash Anand, district president Vikas Rajvanshi, BSP candidate from Lakhimpur seat Anshay Kalra, Dhaurahara candidate Shyamkishore Awasthi, and party candidate Mahendra Singh Yadav from Sitapur seat,” said senior officer Anoop Shukla.
In addition, another case has been registered against approximately 30 unidentified individuals based on a video. The police have stated that the matter is currently under investigation.
