Aam Aadmi party has alleged a huge conspiracy to kill jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as he was reportedly denied insulin.
AAP minister Atishi on Thursday claimed that an attempt was being made to “kill Arvind Kejriwal” while he is lodged in Tihar jail.
She said that Arvind Kejriwal’s blood sugar level has been fluctuating for the past several days and the Tihar Jail authority has not given insulin to Kejriwal, despite him asking for it.
"Despite Kejriwal's repeated requests, he is not being given insulin, and his sugar level is increasing. He is not being given medication because there is a plot to kill him," she alleged.
Kejriwal, 55, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.
"From the past few days, Kejriwal's sugar level is over 300 mg/dl, but he has been denied insulin by Tihar jail authorities. There's a conspiracy to kill Kejriwal by stopping his home cooked food supply," she alleged.
The Delhi minister also rubbished ED’s claim that Kejriwal was consuming high-sugar foods like mangoes and sweets to deliberately increase his blood sugar level.
She stated that Kejriwal was instead using artificial sweeteners and following a prescribed diet, including bananas, which are recommended for diabetes patients to maintain stable blood sugar levels.
"Any doctor will tell you that diabetes patients are asked to carry bananas or any toffee or chocolate because a drop in sugar-level can be dangerous for life. The ED said he is eating aloo-puri. The ED should be afraid of God for lying so much. He ate puri only on the first day of Navratri. All these lies are being spread by the BJP and ED to stop the supply of home-cooked food to Kejriwal," Atishi said.
She also clarified to ED and BJP that a serious diabetes patient is advised to keep bananas and toffees or chocolates for emergency.
“Because when someone has serious diabetes, his sugar level can fall suddenly. Sudden fall in sugar level can also be life-threatening,” Atishi said.
Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Gopal Rai condemned the BJP for incarcerating Kejriwal during elections. Rai announced AAP’s plans for a widespread 'Sankalp Sabha' across 200 locations in Delhi to garner support for Kejriwal's release, urging voters to express their dissatisfaction with the BJP's actions through the ballot on May 25.
