The Delhi Chief Minister urged his supporters to stay united in the fight to preserve the nation.
Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, was granted temporary bail by the Supreme Court and was released on Friday. He declared his commitment to combating autocracy, a sentiment echoed by the jubilant AAP workers who celebrated his return.
Kejriwal, addressing a large gathering of party workers from his vehicle's sunroof, expressed his joy at reuniting with his supporters, reminding them of his promise to return. He expressed his gratitude to Lord Hanuman for his blessings, thanked everyone for their support, and acknowledged the Supreme Court.
He made a public appeal, urging everyone to unite in the effort to protect the nation. Kejriwal invited the public to join him at the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place at 11 a.m. on Saturday for prayers and darshan.
The Delhi CM announced a press conference at the party office at 1 p.m. on Saturday. He also hinted at participating in a roadshow in South Delhi on Saturday evening, alongside Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.
Kejriwal emphasized the resilience of the nation, stating, "Our country, with a history spanning four thousand years, has always resisted any form of dictatorship."
As Kejriwal's convoy left Tihar prisons for his residence, it was surrounded by a large number of party workers and supporters. The crowd, eager to see their leader, welcomed him with traditional dhol beats, firecrackers, and chants.
Kejriwal, accompanied by AAP leader Pathak, was seen leaving the Tihar premises in a vehicle. Upon hearing the news of his release on temporary bail, numerous supporters, including the Punjab CM and other AAP leaders, gathered outside the jail.
Preparations were made outside the Delhi CM's residence to welcome him, with flowers adorning the entrance gate. The Supreme Court granted Kejriwal interim bail for 21 days in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, instructing him to surrender on June 2.
Kejriwal was arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement from his official residence on March 21 following two hours of questioning. Initially, he was held in ED's custody, and later transferred to judicial custody in Tihar prisons.
In April, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was released on bail granted by the apex court after spending over six months in jail in connection with the excise policy case.
