Kumar, who was arrested on May 18 will now be produced in court on May 28.
A Delhi court has sent Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's personal assistant Bibhav Kumar to four days judicial custody in the alleged Swati Maliwal assault case.
Kumar, who was arrested on May 18 will now be produced in court on May 28. Earlier, he had lodged a counter-complaint against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal alleging that she gained 'unauthorized entry' into the CM's residence and 'verbally abused' him.
Bibhav's counsels have moved an application seeking to procure and preserve the CCTV footages and the DVRs, Hindustan Times reported.
“These CCTVs prove my case, they have searched various times and have taken CCTV footages, how many footages they have we don’t know. We are seeking for the footages to be preserved,” Kumar's counsel was quoted as saying.
"Under what provision this application has been moved? These prayers are not applicable at this stage as the matter is under investigation,” the additional public prosecutor argued.
The arrest comes a day after the former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) accused Kejriwal of protecting his PA. Maliwal, in an interview with the news agency ANI said that the “Delhi CM is protecting the accused.” She also recounted the details of assault that happened at CM’s residence on the morning of May 13.
The FIR lodged against Kumar accuses him of “slapping Maliwal atleast seven to eight times" while she "continued screaming" and "brutally dragged" her while "kicking her in the chest, stomach and pelvis area”.
Reportedly, the Vigilance Department had terminated the service of Kumar, last month over a pending criminal case.
On May 22, AAP supremo broke his silence over the alleged assault saying that he expects fair investigation will be conducted and justice will be done, stressing that there are two versions of the event.
Maliwal, however, hit back at party's chief saying it was ironic that the person who had "assassinated her character" and called her a "BJP agent" was now calling for a free and fair investigation.
