Pakistan breaches LoC ceasefire again, India hits back with force

In a continuing pattern of aggression, Pakistan has violated the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC) for the sixth consecutive night on April 29, drawing swift and calibrated retaliation from Indian forces.

The latest round of unprovoked firing was reported late April 29 night across multiple sectors — Pargwal in Jammu district, and Sunderbani and Naushera in Rajouri district — official sources said.

The Indian Army, officials said, responded “effectively and proportionately,” maintaining tactical pressure while avoiding further escalation.

These latest provocations come in the shadow of a brutal terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them tourists. The attack has set off a chain reaction—militarily, diplomatically, and politically.

Security tightened across J&K, 49 tourist sites closed

In an urgent security audit conducted across 87 tourist destinations in the Valley, authorities have shut down 49 of them, citing vulnerability and potential threats. Sources indicate the Army is preparing for re-deployment and may assert greater control over locations still open to the public.

Officials say these measures are aimed at preempting further attacks while maintaining some semblance of normalcy during peak tourism season.

PM chairs security meetings amid escalation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading a high-level security response, chairing a series of back-to-back meetings of key cabinet committees. The Cabinet Committee on Security met for the second time since the Pahalgam attack, followed by sessions of the Political and Economic Affairs Committees, underlining the seriousness with which the Centre views the unfolding crisis.

Mayawati urges unity, warns against political point-scoring

In a rare appeal for bipartisanship, BSP leader Mayawati called on all political parties to back the government's security response. “This is not the time for provocative posters or statements aimed at petty politics,” she posted on X. “Such actions are creating confusion among the public and are not in the national interest.”

She also cautioned parties against misusing the legacy of Dr. BR Ambedkar in the political discourse surrounding the attack.

India engages diplomatically as Taliban, Turkey condemn attack

India has also launched an aggressive diplomatic campaign to counter Pakistani narratives. Joint Secretary M Anand Prakash of the Ministry of External Affairs was dispatched to Kabul to engage with Taliban officials.

In an unexpected show of solidarity, the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry condemned the Pahalgam attack, describing it as a "cowardly assault on civilians" and offering condolences to the families of the victims. Turkey also joined the global condemnation, further isolating Islamabad.
