Modi calls remarks against his late mother an affront to women nationwide, accuses opposition of degrading political culture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 2 launched a scathing attack on the RJD and Congress, accusing them of crossing every limit of decency after expletives were hurled at him and his late mother during a rally in Bihar. Calling the episode “an insult to every mother, sister and daughter in the country,” Modi said the political discourse had hit a new low.
“Mother is our world, our self-respect. I could never have imagined that in a tradition-rich state like Bihar, my late mother would be abused from the stage of RJD and Congress,” Modi said while addressing a public program.

Modi questioned why his mother, who had no role in politics, was dragged into partisan attacks. “My mother had nothing to do with politics, so why was she abused? These abuses are not just about me—they reflect a mindset that disrespects women,” he said.
The incident occurred during Congress’ ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, where abusive slogans targeting Modi and his deceased mother were allegedly raised. Modi claimed the episode revealed an opposition culture that thrives on denigrating women.
Speaking at the launch of a new cooperative initiative to promote rural women’s entrepreneurship through self-help groups, Modi sought to contrast the NDA’s focus on women’s empowerment with the opposition’s “insults.” “This new cooperative will become a strong platform for the daughters and sisters of Bihar to move forward,” he said.
