The 12-month paid internship aims to assist young professionals and fresh graduates in gaining industry experience, building networks and enhancing their chances of employability.

Applications for round 2 of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme have been reopened, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs announced on Feb 20.
The central government launched the first round of its pilot phase on October 3 last year for the fiscal year 2024-2025, offering 1.25 lakh internships at prestigious companies.

The scheme received over 6 lakh applications in its first round, according to the official data.
The second round offers 1 lakh internships in leading companies across 730 districts in India.
Over 300 companies from diverse sectors which include Oil, Gas & Energy, Banking & Financial Services, Automotive, Travel & Hospitality, Metals & Mining, Manufacturing & Industrial, and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).
The 12-month paid internship aims to assist young professionals and fresh graduates in gaining industry experience, building networks and enhancing their chances of employability.
The candidates have the opportunity to apply for up to three internships based on their preferred district, state, and sector.
They can also filter opportunities within a preferable radius of their current address, the ministry said.
The Budget 2024–25 allocated ₹800 crore for the scheme's pilot phase. Young graduates will be able to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial requirements by participating in this project, which will connect them with 500 of the nation's leading enterprises.
The interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 along with a one-time financial aid of ₹6,000.
During the internship, the candidates will receive at least six months of hands-on training and professional experience, ensuring that they gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to succeed in the workforce.
To bolster Round 2, over 70 IEC (Information, Education & Communication) events are being held in districts with the highest internship openings, targeting colleges, universities, ITIs, and Rozgar Melas.
A nationwide digital campaign is also underway, leveraging multiple platforms and influencers for maximum outreach.
Led by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the PMIS seeks to harness India’s young talent by offering 12-month paid internships in top companies.
The program is open to 21 to 24-year-olds who are not enrolled in full-time academic programs or employed, providing them with a valuable career-launching opportunity.
