The three-day TRBB 2026 conference in Kattankulathur will bring together researchers, clinicians and students to discuss advances in stem cell research, tissue regeneration and biomedical engineering.

The SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) is set to organise a three-day National Conference on Translational Regenerative Biology and Bioengineering (TRBB 2026) from November 3 to 5 at its Kattankulathur campus in Tamil Nadu.
Organised by SRMIST's Division of Medical Research, the conference will provide a platform for scientists, medical professionals, academicians, industry representatives and students to discuss emerging developments in regenerative medicine and biomedical engineering.

The event aims to strengthen the connection between laboratory-based scientific discoveries and their practical applications in healthcare. It will focus on how advances in regenerative biology and bioengineering can contribute to developing innovative treatment methods, improving disease models and creating more effective diagnostic technologies.
The scientific programme will cover several emerging areas of biomedical research, including stem cell biology, tissue regeneration, organoids, biomaterials, lab-on-a-chip technologies and theranostics.
These research areas are gaining importance for their potential applications in disease modelling, tissue engineering, medical diagnostics and the development of advanced therapeutic approaches.
The conference will encourage interdisciplinary discussions and collaborations among researchers working in basic sciences, clinical medicine and engineering. It will also provide an opportunity to examine the challenges involved in translating laboratory research into practical healthcare solutions.
TRBB 2026 will feature keynote lectures, invited scientific talks, workshops, oral and poster presentations, flash talks and networking sessions. Scientists and researchers from leading academic and research institutions across India are expected to participate.
The two keynote speakers announced for the conference are Professor Suman Chakraborty, Director of IIT Kharagpur, and Professor Sarit Kumar Das of IIT Madras.
Other speakers listed in the conference programme include researchers from IIT Madras, CSIR laboratories, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and other institutions.
The conference is expected to offer valuable academic exposure to doctoral scholars, early-career researchers and students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in life sciences, medicine and bioengineering.
Through scientific presentations and interactive sessions, participants will get opportunities to understand contemporary research methodologies, explore emerging technologies and interact with established experts.
A dedicated science communication session will also seek to familiarise the general public with regenerative medicine. The initiative aims to explain the potential benefits of emerging therapies while addressing public concerns and highlighting the limitations of current technologies.
A pre-conference workshop is scheduled for November 3, ahead of the main scientific programme on November 4 and 5. It is designed to provide focused learning, practical exposure and opportunities for academic interaction.
According to the conference organisers, TRBB 2026 also aims to encourage future collaborations between SRMIST's medical research, bioengineering and clinical departments.
Prof. Sunil K. Narayan, Dean of Medical Research at SRMIST, said the conference would help lay the groundwork for establishing a regenerative medicine programme through collaboration with the institute's bioengineering and clinical departments.
The initiative is also intended to contribute to the growth of regenerative biology and bioengineering research in India and support the development of future healthcare solutions.
