The University of Jordan remains the country’s highest-ranked institution in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2027, placing among the region’s 10 leading universities and recording strong results for academic reputation, employer reputation and online impact.

The University of Jordan has retained its position as the country’s top-ranked university and remained among the Arab region’s 10 leading institutions in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2027, released by global higher education rankings organisation Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) on Oct 15.
The latest edition assessed 300 universities across 20 Arab countries. The University of Jordan performed strongly across several individual indicators, ranking sixth in the region for academic reputation and employer reputation, second for web impact and 20th for international research networks.

The results highlight the university’s standing in academic and employer perceptions, as well as its online presence and international research connections. However, these indicator rankings measure different aspects of institutional performance and should not be confused with its overall regional position.
University records strong results across key indicators
The university’s sixth-place position for academic reputation reflects its standing among academics in the region, while its ranking for employer reputation measures how employers view institutions and their graduates.
Its second-place position for web impact places it near the top of the region on that indicator. The university also ranked 20th for international research networks, which assesses an institution’s international research connections.
These results offer a more detailed picture of the university’s performance than its overall position alone. The QS Arab Region Rankings use 10 main indicators covering academic and research performance, employer reputation, the learning environment, international research collaboration and web impact.
The rankings are published annually to compare higher education institutions across the Arab region.
University plans to strengthen research and international partnerships
University of Jordan Rector Nathir Obeidat said the institution’s continued position at the top nationally and among the region’s leading universities reflected efforts to improve education and scientific research.
Obeidat said the university would continue developing its academic programmes, expanding partnerships with international institutions and supporting research and innovation.
He added that these efforts were intended to strengthen the university’s regional and international presence, improve graduate employability and help its programmes respond to labour-market needs.
The university’s performance comes as institutions across the region compete to strengthen research capacity, build international collaborations and improve their academic standing.
The QS rankings provide one measure of that performance, although individual indicators capture different dimensions of a university’s work and do not, by themselves, establish the overall quality of every programme or student experience.
