Bollywood legend Dharmendra

Bollywood legend Dharmendra, known as the ‘He-Man’ of Indian cinema, remains a man grounded in the soil of rural Punjab—his true home and lifelong passion beyond the silver screen.

Despite his towering fame and a bustling film career, Dharmendra’s heart has always belonged to the quiet rhythms of village life and farming.

Nearly a decade ago, during a rare visit to his ancestral village of Dangon, near Ludhiana, Dharmendra made a significant gesture: he transferred ownership of 19 kanal and three marla (over two acres) of his ancestral land, valued at approximately ₹5 crore, to his cousin’s family—specifically to his nephew Buta Singh Deol’s father, Manjit Singh, and uncle Shingara Singh.

Speaking exclusively to the media, Buta Singh Deol recalled, “Since Dharmendra uncle left for Mumbai decades ago, our family has been nurturing and tilling the land. This transfer was his way of honouring the bond and trust between us.” Buta emphasized that despite his superstar status, Dharmendra never severed ties with his roots or relatives, maintaining a steady connection with family and childhood friends in Punjab.

The land, lovingly cared for by Dharmendra’s extended family throughout his long absences, symbolized more than property—it was a living legacy of his heritage and humility. Buta further shared, “We have been visiting Mumbai every year to update Dharmendra uncle on the land’s condition. His personal visit in 2015–16 to hand over the land was an emotional moment and a profound act of gratitude.”

Dharmendra’s early life was marked by frequent relocations due to his father’s government job, finally settling in Sahnewal, Punjab, where he cultivated his love for rural life. Though the film industry often kept him away, Dharmendra recreated his beloved village ambiance on his sprawling farm in Khandala, Maharashtra—where he returned to the earth in his later years, tending cattle, growing crops, and sharing glimpses of this peaceful lifestyle with fans during the COVID-19 lockdown.

This ancestral land transfer is a testament to Dharmendra’s enduring respect for family bonds, tradition, and the simple values that shaped the man behind the megastar. It reveals a story not just of wealth or fame, but of roots, trust, and heartfelt legacy—passed down not merely by blood, but through years of care and connection.
