Seeking to elevate the quality of education in Uttar Pradesh to global benchmarks, the state government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Australia's Monash University.

The agreement was formalized in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The partnership is designed to offer students and educators across all levels, including basic, secondary, and higher education, a global platform for research, innovation, training, and technical exchange.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Adityanath said that the state government viewed education as more than a means to earn degrees.

“We see education as a key driver of the state's overall development,” he said.

Highlighting the broader goals of the initiative, he added, “This partnership will incorporate quality, innovation, and global perspective in the education system of the state and will prove helpful in preparing the youth for global competition.”

The Chief Minister further emphasized that the agreement aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 and will promote “multi-dimensional learning, skill development, and international cooperation.”

Drawing a comparison with the state's previous collaboration with Western Sydney University, Adityanath said the new engagement with Monash University represents another major move towards achieving international academic standards.

He announced that Gautam Buddha University would serve as the central hub for implementing the collaboration, with its vice chancellor tasked to oversee its successful execution.

Adityanath also reflected on India’s deep-rooted educational heritage, quoting the Vedic saying, “Let noble thoughts come to us from all directions of the world,” and described the MoU as a modern expression of this enduring vision.

He asserted that such initiatives would help Uttar Pradesh secure a prominent place on the global education map.

Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh outlined the scope of the MoU, noting that it would open opportunities for both students and teachers in Uttar Pradesh to engage with international academic communities.

Monash University, established in 1958 and home to over 84,000 students, is globally recognized for its research and educational excellence.

Professor Manisha, a key figure in facilitating the agreement and a former academic at Delhi University now associated with Monash, said, “Monash trains nearly 30,000 teachers annually, including educators from conflict-affected regions like Afghanistan and Myanmar.”

She added, “With this partnership, teachers from Uttar Pradesh will now have access to similar world-class training programs.”
