Telangana has outlined plans to revamp its public education system as part of broader reforms discussed during a meeting with a delegation from Himachal Pradesh, focusing on policy innovation, infrastructure, and inclusion.

He said a committee of education experts has been constituted to draft the policy, which aims to bring holistic improvements to the schooling system while adhering to national standards.

The Chief Minister also briefed the delegation on the state’s integrated residential school initiative. Under the program, each school is being developed on 25 acres of land at a cost of ₹200 crore.

Students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, minorities, and other communities will study together on the same campus.

Officials said the model is designed to promote social inclusion while ensuring equal access to modern infrastructure and educational resources across economic and social groups.

Each residential campus is planned with facilities intended to provide uniform learning opportunities for all students.

Early childhood education and rural outreach were also part of the discussions. The CM shared proposals to introduce pre-primary education, strengthen government schools to compete with private institutions, and provide transportation facilities for pre-primary students in rural areas.

The meeting also covered plans to upgrade Industrial Training Institutes into Advanced Training Centers in every constituency to strengthen vocational and technical education.

Officials suggested that the Himachal Pradesh Education Minister visit the Advanced Training Center at Mallepally to review the model.

Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Kumar expressed interest in the integrated school concept and sought a detailed report on the initiative. He also conveyed appreciation for Telangana’s efforts to reinforce the government education system.

Senior officials present at the meeting included Education Department Commissioner Yogita Rana, School Education Director Naveen Nicholas, the Chief Minister’s Special Secretary Ajit Reddy, and senior officers from Himachal Pradesh.

Officials from both states said they intend to continue sharing knowledge on education reforms that could be adapted elsewhere.
