The Chief Minister announced priority for state residents in hiring teachers but did not clarify the exact reservation percentage.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has declared that a domicile-based preference system will be introduced for the recruitment of government school teachers in the state ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kumar shared that the Education Department has been instructed to revise the existing recruitment regulations to ensure that residents of Bihar are given priority in the selection process for teaching positions.
However, he did not disclose the exact proportion of positions that would be reserved for candidates who are originally from or have been raised in Bihar.
“This government has consistently focused on enhancing the quality of education since 2005. A considerable number of teachers have been appointed to support this goal,” Kumar said.
The revised policy will take effect from the upcoming Teachers Recruitment Examination (TRE)-4, scheduled for later this year. Furthermore, TRE-5 is expected to be conducted in 2026. Kumar also mentioned that the Secondary Teachers Eligibility Test (STET) will be held before TRE-5 to ensure readiness for the recruitment process.
