The institute embarks on a rigorous global accreditation journey, beginning with AACSB, and aims to join the elite 1% of B-schools worldwide.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur is gearing up to join the exclusive league of business schools worldwide with plans to secure the coveted Triple Crown Accreditation within the next two years. This distinction, held by only 1% of B-schools globally, requires accreditation from three major international bodies: AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), EQUIS, and AMBA.
As a key milestone in this journey, IIM Sambalpur welcomed representatives from AACSB for the first time to both its New Delhi and Sambalpur campuses. The visit marks a significant advancement in the institute’s mission to elevate its academic standards to meet globally recognised benchmarks.

The delegation included Prof. Teguh Dartanto of Universitas Indonesia, who has been appointed as IIM Sambalpur’s AACSB mentor. Prof. Dartanto conducted a comprehensive academic evaluation and led multiple strategic meetings from July 27 to 31, engaging with key stakeholders including Director Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, faculty members, students, alumni, and industry recruiters. His insights are expected to strengthen the institution’s Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER), a critical requirement in the AACSB accreditation process.
Additionally, on July 28, IIM Sambalpur hosted Prathap Das, Regional Head – South Asia, AACSB, at its Delhi campus. In a symbolic moment, Mr. Das officially presented the AACSB Membership Certificate to Prof. Jaiswal, formalising the institute’s entry into the global accreditation process.
In a series of in-depth discussions, focus areas included strategic planning, academic impact, faculty qualifications, assurance of learning, and the alignment of institutional goals with broader societal needs. These dialogues laid the foundation for the institute’s commitment to continuous improvement and international academic excellence.
With its sights set on EQUIS and AMBA next, IIM Sambalpur is on a decisive path to becoming a globally accredited business school, reflecting its growing influence in management education both nationally and internationally.
