Through large-scale afforestation, water conservation, and climate innovation, NIIT University’s sustainable campus sets a benchmark for ecological restoration and environmental leadership in Rajasthan’s Aravalli range.
On the occasion of Van Mahotsav 2025, the University of the Future, NIIT University (NU), talks about its long-term efforts to protect the Aravalli range and the ecosystems around it.
Established in 2009, NU’s Green Campus in Neemrana, Rajasthan aligns with all regional environmental norms and features eco-conscious architectural design that significantly reduces its carbon footprint.
The campus layout respects the natural contours of the land, minimizing the ecological impact of construction and preserving the area's geological integrity.
Major General AK Singh (Retd), Dean of Student Affairs and Chief Operations Officer of NU, remarked, "NIIT University's green efforts show how committed we are to protecting the environment and making it last." We are making the local ecosystem stronger and creating the stage for responsible, long-term practices by bringing the Aravalli hills back to life and finding new ways to save water."
NIIT University is situated in Neemrana where it is participating in and leading initiatives to increase vegetative cover not only within its campus but also in the surrounding region.
NIIT contributes towards the balancing of the local climate by helping the evaporation of “green water” through vegetation. Apart from advocating for industry-government collaboration to ensure long-term water security for Neemrana, the university has also set goals within the sustainability vision that are aligned with “green” and “blue” water initiatives.
Plans include increasing the retention capacity of nearby lakes to enhance water storage and accelerate the evaporation of “blue water” to restore ecological balance.
NIIT University’s initiatives showcase its enduring pledge to provide a stimulating education that also pays attention to ecological issues. Following a green campus approach, the university applies sustainability in all areas of campus life, including hands-on learning activities beyond the classroom.
Activities ranging from tree plantation drives to water saving initiatives seek to instill a sense of environmental stewardship amongst inner and outer community members. Celebrating Van Mahotsav 2025, NU establishes its leadership role in promoting a greener future and improving the lives of people in the Aravalli region.
Established in 2009, NIIT University (NU) is a not-for-profit University under section 2(f) of UGC Act, notified by the Government of Rajasthan. A premier institution of higher learning and research, the University of the future, NIIT University, seeks to create original thinkers who can lead the knowledge society of tomorrow.
