NEET UG Result Declared Ahead of Schedule: The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the NEET UG 2024 result on June 4, much earlier than expected. Students can now check their results and download their scorecards from the official NTA website, exams.nta.ac.in. The announcement is based on the final answer key released the same day.
This year's NEET UG has seen a significant increase in cut-off scores for general category candidates, rising from last year's 137-720 to 164-720. Impressively, 67 students have secured the top rank, each scoring a 99.997129 percentile.
Ved Sunil Kumar Shinde from Nagpur, Maharashtra, achieved a perfect score of 720 out of 720, securing the All India Rank 1. Ved, a student at Allen Career Institute, credits his success to consistent hard work and guidance from his coaching institute. He balanced his studies with adequate rest and focused primarily on the NCERT syllabus, even solving JEE Main previous papers to aid his preparation.
According to NTA data, a total of 9,96,393 male candidates, 13,31,321 female candidates, and 17 transgender candidates appeared for NEET UG 2024. The overall attendance was 96.94%, with male and female attendance at 96.92% and 96.96%, respectively, and transgender attendance at 94.44%.
In state-wise results, Uttar Pradesh topped the list with 1,65,047 qualifying students, followed by Maharashtra with 1,42,665, Rajasthan with 1,21,240, and Tamil Nadu with 89,426. Here’s a quick look at the number of students qualifying from different states:

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will conduct the counseling for 15% of All India Quota seats, including those in deemed universities, central universities, ESIC, AFMC, BHU, and AMU. Details and schedules will be available on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's website and mcc.nic.in.
Interestingly, despite 67 students achieving the top rank, AIIMS New Delhi had only 48 open-category seats in 2023. The total seats in AIIMS included allocations for various reserved categories, highlighting the intense competition for coveted medical school spots.
In response to issues raised by candidates regarding loss of exam time on May 5, NTA implemented a normalization formula, as directed by the Supreme Court. Candidates affected by these disruptions received grace marks, leading to some scoring 718 or 719 out of 720.
NTA refuted claims of a paper leak, confirming that a thorough background check on NEET UG 2024 toppers was conducted. Sources revealed that the toppers had consistently high scores in both Class 10 and Class 12.
