The government has said that NEET UG 2024 counseling will begin in the third week of July and will be conducted in four rounds.
The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) sent out a notification on July 16 inviting medical colleges to enter their seats at the official portal, mcc.nic.in, while students await the NEET UG Supreme Court verdict and an official date for counseling for the 2024 academic session.
The committee will collect seat allocations for UG counseling 2024 on the intramcc website from participating institutions until July 20.
"Institutions participating in UG Counseling 2024 are hereby informed that the intramcc website for contributing UG seats is now open. As a result, institutes are urged to begin putting their seats on the portal as soon as possible so that the seat contribution process can be finished on time," read the official notice.
The notification further states that the user ID and passport required by the institution to access the site are the same as they were in previous years. Additionally, if users want to create a new password or have forgotten their old one, they can use the "Forgot Password" option.
For technical inquiries, the institution can contact the MCC between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at 011-69227413, 69227416, 69227419, and 69227423.
Furthermore, the government has said that NEET UG 2024 counseling will begin in the third week of July and will be conducted in four rounds. However, if students are found to have been involved in unfair means or malpractice earlier, their enrollment will be canceled during or after the counseling process.
15% of all India quota seats at various central universities, government institutions, deemed universities, and even seats set aside for the wards of insured persons (IP quota) at ESIC medical colleges and Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune will be open for NEET UG counseling.
Meanwhile, a bench led by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud would be hearing all NEET UG 2024-related petitions before the Supreme Court on July 18.
The NEET-UG 2024 examination was held on May 5 by the NTA across hundreds of centers in India for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in government and private institutions. The results were released unexpectedly soon on June 4, ten days ahead of schedule, with 67 toppers this year.
The government and the NTA on June 13 told the court that they had cancelled the grace marks awarded to 1,563 candidates.
They were given the option to either take a re-test or forgo the compensatory marks awarded for loss of time. The NTA announced the revised rank list on July 1 after issuing the results of the re-test held on June 23.
