The new NCERT-developed Physics MOOCs on SWAYAM offer interactive videos, animations, and self-assessments, enabling Class 12 students nationwide to learn complex concepts digitally and earn free completion certificates.

Class 12 students across India can now access a new set of free online Physics courses developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) on the government’s SWAYAM platform.
Designed as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), the program aims to make high-quality science education more accessible and engaging.

The courses, prepared by NCERT subject experts, follow the official Class 12 Physics syllabus and integrate digital tools, visuals, and practical exercises to simplify complex concepts.
The first batch of modules includes topics such as Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Current, and Electromagnetic Waves.
These lessons allow students to study electric charges and potentials, understand how resistors, capacitors, and inductors function in circuits, and explore the principles behind technologies powered by electromagnetic waves.
A second series features 43 modules across five major units, Ray Optics and Wave Optics, Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter, Atoms and Nuclei, Semiconductors and Electronic Devices, and Communication Systems.
The modules connect core scientific principles with advanced ideas like diffraction, quantum behavior, and modern electronics.
“The goal is to help students develop a stronger scientific perspective,” NCERT said.
Each module includes video lectures, animations, downloadable study material, self-assessment tools, and assignments to help learners evaluate their progress.
Every SWAYAM course is structured around four core components: video lessons, e-texts, practice exercises, and online discussion forums.
NCERT functions as the national coordinator for developing MOOCs for Classes 9 to 12 across school-level subjects.
Enrollment is completely free, and students can register through the SWAYAM website or mobile app.
Those who complete the courses and assessments successfully will receive certificates.
Officials said the effort aims to close learning gaps and support students in rural or underserved areas who often lack access to experienced teachers or advanced laboratory facilities.
The new NCERT Physics MOOCs are available for exploration and registration on the SWAYAM portal.
