Hundreds of Indian students attended the annual welcome reception in London, marking the start of their academic journey in the UK and highlighting stronger people-to-people links between both nations.

Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami has described Indian students in Britain as the “brightest and best,” highlighting their growing role in strengthening India-UK ties.
Speaking at a special welcome reception for new students, Doraiswami said Indians now form the largest group of international students in the UK and continue to make a strong impact across universities.

“Indians are not only the largest group of foreign students in the UK but also the brightest and best who help strengthen the bilateral relationship,” he said.
The event, organized in partnership with King’s College London, was live-streamed to Indian consulates across the UK.
It followed a student registration drive conducted by the High Commission of India to assist newly arrived students.
Held annually since 2023, the welcome reception drew hundreds of Indian students embarking on their academic journey in the UK this term, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their educational pursuits abroad.
