Hyderabad: IIT Hyderabad Cluster has been selected for a prestigious Rs. 60 crore grant from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to establish the Centre for In-Situ and Correlative Microscopy (CISCoM). This grant, under the SATHI scheme, positions the centre to be a national leader in advanced characterization techniques.

CISCoM is set to be the first in India to offer real-time characterization across various scales, essential for both fundamental research and industrial applications. The initiative will foster collaboration among scientists from diverse fields such as physical sciences, chemistry, biology, and pharmaceuticals.

Prof BS Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad, along with Dr. Sai Rama Krishna Malladi and other researchers, will lead the centre. The project has garnered additional support of over Rs. 16 crores from 15 academic, research, and industrial partners, including the University of Hyderabad and Bharat Biotech, among others.

This centre is expected to significantly enhance India's research capabilities in microscopy and characterization, contributing to the nation's scientific and industrial development.
