The dialogue between Sree Narayana Guru and Mahatma Gandhi is notable for its profound discussion of significant issues of that era;

Regarding Vaikom Satyagraha

Reason: The movement was launched to combat the practice of untouchability.

In Vaikom, located in the former Travancore princely State, individuals from lower castes, especially Dalits, were forbidden from walking on the roads that led to the Vaikom Shiva Temple.

– Leadership: It was directed by T.K. Madhavan, K. Kelappan, and various notable leaders.

Mahatma Gandhi endorsed the cause by providing his guidance, even though he did not take part in the protests at the outset.

E.V. Ramasamy Periyar, a notable social reformer and head of the Self-Respect Movement, also provided assistance to the movement.

Sree Narayana Guru was a prominent spiritual leader and social reformer in Kerala, India. He advocated for social equality and casteless society, emphasizing education and empowerment for all. His teachings inspired many and aimed to eradicate discrimination based on caste. The Guru established various educational institutions and temples, encouraging unity and understanding among different communities. His legacy continues to influence movements for social justice and reform in the region.
