The one-year program, jointly offered by IIT Delhi and AIIMS Delhi, equips professionals to design, manage, and commercialize healthcare innovations through interdisciplinary learning and real-world industry exposure.

IIT Delhi has launched its first online Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Product Development and Management, a one-year program offered by the Centre for Biomedical Engineering, a collaborative venture between IIT Delhi and AIIMS Delhi.
Designed to build technical and strategic capabilities, the diploma aims to train professionals to innovate, develop, and manage healthcare products from concept to market.

According to an official release, the curriculum includes subjects such as biomedical innovation, regulatory science, commercial strategy, and product lifecycle management.
The program targets individuals with academic or professional backgrounds in biomedical engineering, life sciences, healthcare, biotechnology, or medicine.
It is particularly suited for those looking to transition into healthcare R&D, regulatory roles, or product management.
Delivered through live and interactive online sessions, the course brings together IIT Delhi faculty, medical practitioners, and industry leaders.
An optional two-day campus immersion is also planned for hands-on learning and academic exchange.
Covering 18 academic credits, the course features core and advanced modules such as biofabrication, healthcare wearables design, biomedical engineering, and entrepreneurship in healthcare.
Participants will gain practical exposure to tools like AutoCAD, 3D printing, Arduino, UXUI, and AI/ML applications and will also work on capstone projects aimed at creating scalable solutions.
Applicants must hold a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree or have at least two years of experience in related industries.
Upon completion, learners will receive affiliate alumni status, academic credits via the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), official transcripts from IIT Delhi, and an opportunity to attend convocation.
With India’s healthcare market projected to reach USD 320 billion by 2028 and global demand for wearable medical devices growing at a CAGR of 27.4% between 2023 and 2030, the program addresses a critical talent gap in the sector.
Speaking about the initiative, Prof Arnab Chanda, program coordinator and associate professor at IIT Delhi’s Centre for Biomedical Engineering, said, "Our vision for this program is rooted in translational impact. We nurture interdisciplinary thinkers who can reimagine healthcare products by merging technology, design, and clinical relevance."
