IIM Lucknow launches executive program in venture capital and private equity

The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow has launched a new executive program in venture capital and private equity in collaboration with edtech platform Emeritus.

The initiative comes as India’s VC and PE sector continues to grow, with the market projected to reach $232 billion by 2030 and the country contributing nearly 20% of total VCPE activity in the Asia-Pacific region, driving demand for professionals skilled in investment evaluation, deal execution, portfolio management, and exits.

The nine-month program will be delivered through live online sessions and will include a three-day on-campus immersion at IIM Lucknow. It is designed for working professionals seeking structured exposure to the venture capital and private equity investment lifecycle.

According to IIM Lucknow, the curriculum covers market assessment, fund structuring, valuation frameworks, portfolio strategy, and exit planning, along with emerging areas such as AI-led investing and impact capital.

The learning approach combines faculty-led instruction, applied workshops, and a supervised capstone project in which participants will work in teams on a simulated investment fund.

Speaking at the launch, an IIM Lucknow faculty representative said that India’s capital ecosystem is entering a “defining decade” and emphasized the need for professionals who can move beyond financial analysis to adopt a strategic and responsible approach across the VC and PE space.

The program will be taught by IIM Lucknow faculty members along with industry practitioners, offering participants a mix of academic rigor and market perspectives, while the on-campus immersion will focus on leadership development, peer collaboration, and networking.

The program will begin on March 31, 2026, run for nine months, and require a minimum of two years of work experience. It will be conducted through live online classes with a three-day campus immersion at IIM Lucknow.

The fee is ₹3.20 lakh plus GST, and participants who complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion from IIM Lucknow, with an option to obtain IIM Lucknow Executive Alumni status.

IIM Lucknow said the program is aimed at professionals looking to build careers in venture capital, private equity, family offices, corporate investment arms, and related roles as India’s investment landscape continues to evolve.
