The state plans a new framework to assess engineering colleges based on teaching quality, infrastructure, and relevance to industry needs before finalizing fee structures, following Supreme Court guidance.
In a move aimed at elevating the quality of technical education, the Telangana government has announced plans to reassess engineering college fees based on academic and infrastructural standards.
According to an official release issued on June 27, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is pushing for engineering colleges in the state to rise to global standards, especially in response to the growing demand for courses like artificial intelligence (AI), which play a pivotal role in the technology sector.
To achieve this, the Congress-led administration is working on a new framework that will help institutions align with evolving industry requirements.
Engineering colleges across Telangana are expected to upgrade their infrastructure, faculty quality, and laboratory facilities to meet guidelines set by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The release said, “The Supreme Court has held that facilities, laboratories, salaries paid to lecturers, teaching and non-teaching staff, and measures taken to improve the academic standards of a college should be taken into consideration while finalizing the fees.”
The government confirmed it will base its revised fee structure on these parameters, taking the Supreme Court's guidance into account.
