The Education Ministry has extended the registration deadline for the nationwide student innovation event, Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, giving schools extra time to participate and submit ideas aimed at shaping India’s development vision.

The Ministry of Education has announced an extension of the registration deadline for Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 until Oct 11.
The initiative, launched in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission and NITI Aayog, seeks to foster creativity and problem-solving among students while aligning with India’s broader goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Initially, the last date for registration was set for Oct 6. The decision to extend the deadline was taken to ensure that more schools, particularly from remote and rural areas, get the opportunity to participate.
According to the ministry, the event has already seen enthusiastic participation from students across the country, with the extension expected to further widen outreach.
The Buildathon invites students from Classes 6 to 12 to form teams and develop ideas, models, or prototypes across four national themes — Vocal for Local, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, and Samriddh Bharat.
Submissions will be accepted in video or photo format, showcasing students’ innovation and understanding of real-world challenges.
A nationwide live event will be held on Oct 13, where students will engage simultaneously in idea generation and model-building sessions.
Following this, full submissions will be accepted until Oct 31. The evaluation process, to be carried out by experts from academia and industry, will take place through November, and the final results will be announced in December 2025.
Winning teams will receive cash prizes worth Rs 1 crore, mentorship opportunities, and long-term support from corporate partners to help scale their ideas.
Beyond rewards, the initiative aims to strengthen India’s innovation culture at the school level, encouraging young minds to contribute to national growth and sustainability goals.
The Education Ministry said that Viksit Bharat Buildathon reflects the government’s commitment to empowering students as creators and innovators, not just learners, marking a step toward building a self-reliant India.
