Minister Pradhan said that the rankings reflect improved academic quality, innovation, and global engagement, highlighting the impact of NEP reforms in strengthening India’s higher education system and global academic presence.

India’s performance in the QS Top 50 Subject Rankings 2026 has drawn praise from the Union Education Minister, who described it as a significant marker of progress in the country’s higher education sector.
In a social media post, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the rankings highlight strong academic standards and the increasing global visibility of Indian institutions, attributing the progress to the National Education Policy’s emphasis on quality, innovation, and international engagement.

Additionally, Jawaharlal Nehru University Vice-Chancellor Professor Santishree D Pandit congratulated the university’s faculty and students for their strong showing in the global rankings.
She noted that JNU has maintained consistent performance over the past three years and said the institution continues to advance academic excellence with a focus on Nari Shakti for Viksit Bharat.
