The University of Western Australia India appoints professor Rajaraman Eri as Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor to strengthen academic leadership, research partnerships and India-Australia collaboration.

The University of Western Australia India (UWA India) has announced the appointment of Professor Rajaraman Eri as Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor of UWA India, marking another significant step in the University's long-term commitment to building a high-quality university presence in the region.
The appointment highlights UWA’s long-term commitment to India and reflects continued investment in academic leadership to support growth across education, research and industry engagement.

Professor Eri brings more than two decades of experience in academic leadership, biomedical research, higher education innovation and global partnerships.
He has held senior leadership positions at leading Australian universities, including RMIT University in Melbourne and the University of Tasmania.
Most recently, as Associate Dean in the School of Sciences at RMIT, he played a key role in advancing academic and research initiatives, industry engagement and multidisciplinary collaboration.
At the University of Tasmania, Professor Eri established a leading biomedical sciences and translational research program. His research spans food science, nutrition, microbiome research and gut health, with a strong focus on translating scientific discoveries into real-world health outcomes.
UWA Vice-Chancellor Professor Amit Chakma said the appointment reflected the University’s commitment to India as a key strategic partner.
“Strong academic leadership in the region is central to our vision for meaningful engagement with students, researchers, institutions and industry,” Professor Chakma said.
“Professor Eri brings extensive experience across research, education and international collaboration, and his appointment will further strengthen opportunities between India and Australia."
In his new role, Professor Eri will lead UWA India's strategic growth by advancing academic initiatives, strengthening partnerships with universities and industry, enhancing the student experience and fostering research collaboration between India and Australia.
Professor Eri said he looks forward to contributing to UWA India's growth by building strong academic partnerships and creating impactful opportunities for students and researchers across India and Australia.
“India is an important partner in global education and innovation, and I am excited to support collaborations that deliver meaningful outcomes for communities and industry," Professor Eri said.
