KIET set to host the 8th Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon (Software Edition) as the Delhi-NCR nodal center on 8–9 December 2025.

KIET Deemed-to-be-University, Delhi-NCR, Ghaziabad is all set to host the 8th edition of the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon (Software edition) from 8th to 9th December 2025, as the official nodal center in Delhi-NCR. Aligned with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for youth-led development, this event is his brainchild and a nationwide initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The objective of this event is to provide students a platform to solve the pressing problems of the government, ministries, departments, industries and other organizations. It is jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, SBI Foundation, and i4c. Claude is the Technology Partner, TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) and Persistent are the Knowledge Partners, while DD News and Akashvani are the Media Partners.

This year, nearly 68,766 teams were nominated by 2,587 registered HEIs for 271 problem statements shared by 54 participating ministries/ industries/ departments/ PSUs/ state departments. This is inclusive of Software and Hardware edition. For the grand finale of software edition, that is a 2-day event, a total of 191 problem statements have been shared by 37 different organizations and ministries, based on 18 themes, viz. Smart Resource Conservation, Smart Education, Disaster Management, Blockchain & Cybersecurity, Renewable / Sustainable Energy, Travel & Tourism, Clean & Green Technology, Robotics and Drones, Transportation & Logistics, Smart Vehicles, Agriculture, FoodTech & Rural Development, MedTech / BioTech / HealthTech, Heritage & Culture, Fitness & Sports, Smart Automation, Toys & Games, and Space Technology.
Overall, this event is going to be facilitated at 60 centres across the nation and KIET Deemed-to-be- University, is one of them. Teams from far off states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Odisha are shortlisted to participate at KIET and work on 5 problem statements shared by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Ministry of Home Affairs on two themes, viz. Clean & Green Technology and Smart Automation.
Addressing the upcoming event at KIET, the University’s Executive Director, Dr. Manoj Goel shared, “We are privileged and honored to be one of the nodal centres for SIH, this year as well. In SIH 2024, we had 46 teams at our campus for hardware edition, and this year, we’ll be hosting 26 teams from different regions across the nation, for software edition. We have ensured that throughout their stay at the campus, they will be provided with all the necessary facilities and environment that are required to create an innovative solution to their respective problem statements. Also, to make them feel at-home and stress-free, we have various cultural performances and Zumba in place for them. We wish the best to all the participants and are truly excited to watch these young minds invent an innovative solution that promotes youth-led development - the vision of Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji.”

Adding to this, Dr. Adesh Kumar Pandey, Director Academics, emphasized the broader significance of the event, saying, “Smart India Hackathon is not just a competition. It is a national movement that empowers the youth to think innovatively and contribute to solving real-world challenges. It nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and technological excellence. KIET is proud to be a contributing force in fostering this innovation-driven mindset and in preparing young minds to shape the future of a Viksit Bharat.”
Mr. Saurav Kumar, GM, TBI-KIET, along with Dr. Vibhav Sachan, Dean R&D and Dean ECE, were also present during the conference. They discussed about the University’s preparedness to host the event.
Shri Narendra Modi Ji, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India will be inaugurating the event on 8th December and will also be addressing the talented participants virtually during the first day of the event. On the other hand, Shri Atul Garg Ji, Chancellor of KIET University and Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, would be joining the event’s local inauguration ceremony at KIET, as the Chief Guest.
All-in-all, this event is set to bring some amazing and innovative solutions that contribute towards Viksit Bharat. The press conference closed on an inspiring note, underscoring KIET’s continual efforts to empower youth-driven innovation. With enthusiastic support from leadership, faculty, and national bodies, this edition of SIH promises to ignite fresh ideas, spark groundbreaking solutions, and strengthen the spirit of technological nation-building. As KIET prepares to host brilliant young minds from across India, the University stands ready to play its part in fostering the innovators, leaders, and changemakers of tomorrow.
