During the Battery Summit 2025, Tata Elxsi, along with Tata Motors, Tata AutoComp, and IIT Kharagpur, presented the Battery Aadhaar initiative to important government representatives:
What Is It?
Battery Aadhaar is a digital identification system created for batteries, aimed at facilitating complete traceability throughout their lifecycle with the use of secure, blockchain-based technologies.
Created By: Led by Tata Elxsi via its MOBIUS+ platform, in partnership with Tata Motors, Tata AutoComp Systems, and IIT Kharagpur.
Aim:
To provide distinct digital identifiers for every battery, allowing for secure usage, controlled recycling, and effective disposal.
To ensure battery usage meets national and international compliance standards such as the EU Battery Regulation.
Main Characteristics:
Blockchain Integration: MOBIUS+ provides secure, real-time data recording for every battery unit.
Lifecycle Transparency: Monitors manufacturer information, usage records, and material composition.
Regulatory Adherence: Streamlines reporting for Indian and global policy structures.
Sustainability Link: Promotes circular economy frameworks by minimizing battery waste and environmental hazards.
Importance:
Stops the hazardous reuse of old or deteriorated batteries, guaranteeing safety in EV environments.
Enhances the visibility of India’s battery supply chain and its pledge to sustainability.
Promotes environmentally aware innovation in mobility, energy storage, and electronics sectors.
Advances India’s role in green technology leadership and corresponds with the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP).
