What is Anemia?
Anemia is a medical condition characterized by a deficiency of healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin in the blood, primarily due to iron deficiency, which hampers the transport of oxygen to various organs.
Key Statistics:
In India, 67.1% of children and 59.1% of adolescent girls are affected by anemia (NFHS-5, 2019-21).
Worldwide, anemia impacts 500 million women aged 15-49 and 269 million children under the age of five.
Three out of four women in India have inadequate dietary iron intake.
Government Initiatives:
Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB): Initiated in 2018, this program employs a 6x6x6 strategy:
Digital Integration: Enables real-time tracking of anemia through mobile applications.
Linkages: The program is integrated with POSHAN Abhiyaan and the School Health Program.
The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy in Kerala is scheduled for a comprehensive revision, marking the first update in 17 years
