Targeted investments in roads and drainage to modernize a growing city

Project Details
On 29 September 2025, the Rajasthan government launched new infrastructure projects in Jaipur worth ₹450 crore. This includes major works by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) such as an elevated road from Gopalpura Bypass to Gurjar Ki Thadi, sewerage upgrades, and drainage improvements.

Key Components
Transportation: Elevated corridor connecting residential and commercial zones to reduce congestion around Tonk Road, JLN Marg, and intersections like Triveni Circle.
Sewerage & Drainage: Upgrades in Prithviraj Nagar, Sanganer zones; new trunk lines linking to STP network.
Road Improvements: Strengthening, resurfacing of existing roads (e.g. Vandemataram Road, Journalist Road Junction).
Urban Challenges Addressed
Traffic Congestion: Elevated corridors aim to ease gridlocks at critical junctures.
Flooding & Drainage: Seasonal rains often overwhelm existing drainage; improvement is designed to reduce waterlogging.
Urban Infrastructure Deficit: Many parts of Jaipur have unplanned growth; systematic upgrade is needed for livability.
Governance & Funding Aspects
Projects will be executed by JDA, possibly through public works, with state funding or internal revenue.
Stakeholder coordination required among municipal bodies, water utilities, traffic police, and urban planners.
Constraints & Risks
Land Acquisition & Relocation: Elevated roads may require land / property shifts.
Cost Overruns & Delays: As with large infrastructure, delays and budget escalations are risks.
Disruption During Construction: Traffic, business, and daily life may see temporary disturbances.
Sustainability: Design should integrate green drainage, permeable surfaces, and climate resilience.
