CBSE dismisses viral notice claiming board exam postponement in Middle East

A message circulating on social media, claiming that CBSE board examinations in several Middle Eastern countries have been postponed, has created confusion among students and parents ahead of scheduled papers.

The widely shared circular, which has been circulating on platforms such as Twitter and WhatsApp, states that multiple examinations, including the Class 12 English paper, have been rescheduled for CBSE students in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The document appears to be an official notice and is falsely attributed to the CBSE Controller of Examinations, which has contributed to its rapid spread online.

However, the Central Board of Secondary Education has clarified that the circular is not genuine and was not issued by the board. Officials said no decision has been taken to reschedule CBSE examinations across the Middle East as claimed in the viral message.

The board urged students, parents, and school authorities to ignore the misleading notice and rely only on official information issued by CBSE. It also advised people not to share or forward unverified messages that could cause unnecessary confusion during the ongoing examination period.

Authorities further said that updates related to examinations should be checked only through official notifications available on the CBSE website or other verified channels.

Although the viral notice is fake, the board had made certain changes to examinations in the region earlier. Some Class 10 and Class 12 papers were postponed due to heightened security concerns linked to tensions between Iran and Israel, and a few Class 10 examinations were cancelled.

CBSE informed affiliated schools in the affected countries about these developments through official communications.

The board has also said that new dates for the postponed examinations will be announced later and that further updates will be communicated through official notifications to schools.
