The upcoming campus will focus on AI, data science, and robotics, offering global academic partnerships, smart infrastructure, and advanced programs to train future-ready technology leaders.
BITS Pilani has unveiled plans for a cutting-edge AI+ Campus in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, marking a major step forward in its mission to redefine higher education in India.
The announcement came during the institute's convocation ceremony on July 13.
Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chancellor of BITS Pilani and Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, confirmed that the Amaravati campus will receive an investment of approximately ₹1,000 crore over the next five years.
“BITS Pilani is ready to set up a one-of-a-kind AI+ Campus at Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh at an investment of ₹1,000 crore. The focus of this campus will be to prepare Indian talent for leadership in the defining technologies of our time. This future-ready campus will specialize in AI, data science, robotics, computational linguistics, and cyber-physical systems,” Birla said.
Spanning 35 acres, the Amaravati campus is envisioned as an innovation hub that combines academic rigor with entrepreneurial energy.
The campus will feature undergraduate twinning programs, cooperative doctoral degrees in partnership with leading global institutions, and specialized master’s degrees in areas such as AI/ML, innovation, and strategy.
A Smart Campus Vision will drive the integration of IoT systems, AI-powered learning platforms, and hybrid teaching infrastructure to create a digitally advanced learning environment.
Construction will take place in two phases. Phase 1 will accommodate 3,000 students with a strong emphasis on academics and student life.
Phase 2 will increase capacity to over 7,000, incorporating advanced research centers, global collaboration zones, entrepreneurship hubs, and modular infrastructure for flexible expansion.
The Amaravati campus will also operate as a research and innovation center, with a focus on sustainability and smart infrastructure, further strengthening BITS Pilani’s role in shaping the future of tech-driven education in India.
