Delhi University scored a CGPA of 3.55, while King George’s Medical University achieved 3.67 in NAAC Cycle 2, placing both among India’s highest-rated institutions for academic quality and infrastructure.

Delhi University and King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, have secured the coveted A++ grade in the latest NAAC Cycle 2 assessment, placing them among the country’s top higher education institutions.
DU achieved a CGPA of 3.55, reinforcing its reputation as one of India’s leading central universities, while KGMU scored 3.67, becoming only the second medical college in Uttar Pradesh after SGPGI, Lucknow, to earn the top rating.

“This is a proud moment for our faculty, students, alumni, and everyone connected to the university,” DU said in a statement.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council, operating under the UGC, grades institutions on parameters including curriculum, research, innovation, infrastructure, and student support.
The A++ grade, valid for five years, is the highest possible and is considered a benchmark for institutional quality.
KGMU’s recognition strengthens its standing in the national medical education landscape, joining an exclusive group of A++ medical institutions.
In Odisha, Berhampur University secured an A grade in its third accreditation cycle, also valid for five years.
NAAC rankings have become increasingly influential in attracting students, fostering global collaborations, and opening avenues for research funding and industry partnerships.
In July, NAAC announced that a new AI-powered accreditation system will be introduced in August, replacing the three-decade-old model with a faster, more transparent, and scalable digital framework.
The revamped process will feature a two-tier system: a basic accreditation for all institutions and a maturity-based graded accreditation for those seeking advanced evaluation.
