The university advises applicants to stay alert against fake admission messages and rely solely on official emails and portals for updates during the ongoing CUET UG 2025 registration process.
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has issued a warning to prospective students about fraudulent text messages and unverified links falsely offering admission opportunities.
The university clarified in an official notice that it does not use WhatsApp or any similar messaging platforms to communicate official admission details.
The advisory comes after reports emerged of candidates receiving unsolicited messages with promises of admission and suspicious URLs encouraging users to click.
BHU has urged students not to respond to or engage with such messages, warning that these could be part of scams operated by unknown sources.
"The university does not use WhatsApp or similar platforms for sharing official communication regarding admissions," the statement read.
At the same time, BHU has started its registration process for undergraduate admissions for the 2025 academic session.
Students who have qualified for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG 2025 can submit their applications through the official portals, bhu.ac.in or bhucuet.samarth.edu.in, until July 31.
“To avoid any confusion, candidates are advised to rely only on official updates provided through the BHU student portal or registered email addresses,” the notice added.
BHU said that it communicates admission-related information solely through its official emails: [email protected] and [email protected].
These are sent to the email IDs submitted by candidates during the application process, and updates are also regularly posted on the student portal.
The university also advised all applicants to monitor their registered email addresses and the official BHU admission page frequently to stay informed and avoid falling victim to deception.
