The cabinet has cleared new posts, policy reforms, and recruitment rules aimed at improving teaching capacity, public prosecution, aviation services, and child protection mechanisms across departments.
The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet has cleared a series of proposals aimed at overhauling education, policing, legal systems, and administrative practices across departments. The decisions were finalized at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu on July 18.
To support technical education, 34 new posts, both teaching and non-teaching, will be created at the Government Engineering College in Toru, located in the Papum Pare district. The move is expected to strengthen faculty resources and improve learning outcomes.
In a significant step toward internal security, the cabinet has approved the establishment of the 6th Indian Reserve Battalion.
This addition will help strengthen the state’s police force, reduce dependence on Central Armed Police Forces, and provide job openings for eligible local youth. Arunachal Pradesh currently has two state armed police units and five IR battalions.
The cabinet also endorsed guidelines to assist minor victims of sexual crimes under the POCSO Act. The rules, modified to suit local needs, require one trained support person for every 10 cases.
These individuals will assist child victims through the pre-trial and trial processes, with detailed norms for selection and duties.
To bring fairness and order to the allocation of government housing, especially in the state capital and district centers, the cabinet has introduced a new framework for allotment.
The guidelines are designed to stop misuse, eliminate unauthorized occupancy, and improve transparency.
In a bid to reinforce the legal machinery, new posts have been sanctioned in the Directorate of Prosecution, including three deputy director roles, 10 assistant directors, and 18 clerical staff positions.
Public prosecutors already in service will be redesignated, and their salary levels have been revised to ensure consistency with official pay scales.
The cabinet has also approved changes to recruitment rules in the Directorate of Forensic Science at the police training center in Banderdewa.
These include title changes and updated salary brackets for various posts, including Scientist-E, Scientist-D, Scientist-C, and laboratory assistants.
To enhance civil aviation in the state, 10 new posts will be added to the Directorate of Civil Aviation.
The government also transferred the posts of veterinary officers from the rural development department to the animal husbandry and veterinary services department for improved coordination.
Officials said the set of measures reflects the government’s broader strategy to upgrade public services, boost local employment, and create a more accountable governance structure.
