AICTE invites applications for Mitacs Globalink Research Internship 2027 in Canada

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has invited applications for the AICTE-Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) 2027, offering eligible Indian undergraduate students fully funded 12-week research internships in Canada.

Eligible students can submit their applications until Sept 16, 2026. Mitacs said applications received after the deadline will not be accepted. Candidates can apply through the official AICTE website, aicte.gov.in.

The internship is being offered under the AICTE-Mitacs partnership to expand international research opportunities for Indian students. Under the program, up to 300 eligible Indian students will receive fully funded internships annually for three years starting in 2027.

The internships will be conducted in person for 12 consecutive weeks between May and October 2027 at participating Canadian universities.

Students will work under faculty members and gain research experience, laboratory exposure, international mentorship, multicultural academic exposure and professional development opportunities.

The program covers research areas including science, engineering, mathematics, computer science, life sciences, social sciences, business, arts and humanities.

AICTE-Mitacs GRI 2027: Eligibility criteria

Undergraduate students enrolled at AICTE-approved institutions can apply for the internship. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study or be enrolled in their second year at the time of application.

Applicants must also meet the academic and program-specific eligibility requirements prescribed by AICTE and Mitacs. Students have been advised to review the eligibility criteria on the official websites before submitting their applications.

According to the official notification, shortlisted candidates will receive pre-departure assistance and orientation before beginning their research internships in Canada.
