New RTI responses from 19 IITs show most campuses recorded higher BTech placement rates in 2024-25 compared with last year, though outcomes remain below the stronger 2021-22 cycle.

A fresh look at BTech placement records from 19 IITs shows that most campuses have reported better outcomes in 2024-25 compared to last year, reversing part of the downturn that had unsettled students during the previous hiring cycle.
Three out of four IITs recorded higher placement percentages this year, according to data shared by the institutes.

However, the latest numbers still fall short of the stronger results seen in 2021-22, a period that marked the peak of campus hiring activity.
The information was released after Right to Information queries were sent to all 23 IITs seeking details of 2024-25 BTech placements.
Nineteen institutes responded with their data, while earlier statistics from 2021-22 to 2023-24 had been included in a parliamentary standing committee report tabled earlier in the year.
