In a bid to accommodate students and provide them with additional time to complete their registration, the Indira Gandhi National open University (IGNOU) has announced latest extension on its application date, setting it to March 31.
Initially set for February 29, the deadline for the January 2024 admissions was first extended till March 10, which was then pushed to March 20 and now, it has further extended to March 31.

IGNOU offers various modes of admission for prospective students which includes Online Distance Learning Programs, and Open mode.
There also fee exemptions for SC/ST candidates, and National Scholarship portal where students can apply for government scholarships after securing admission at IGNOU.
There is a little difference in IGNOU’s open and online modes of admission as the method of delivery and the availability of programs are different in both modes.
In the open and distance learning (ODL) mode, a wide range of programs, including Degree/Certificate/Diploma courses, are available, and students need to choose Regional Centers (RC) and Study Centers (SC).
Students for ODL Mode Admission can use the portal https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in
While the online mode offers selected programs, with classes conducted entirely online, eliminating the need for physical attendance at study centers. Additionally, in the online mode, students do not need to select RCs, unlike in the ODL mode where this choice is required.

Students opting for Online Mode Admission can use https://ignouiop.samarth.edu.in.
Eligible students can also apply for government scholarships on the national scholarship portal at scholarships.gov.in, after confirmation of admission.
