If re-elected in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, AAP will fully fund Dalit students' higher education abroad, including international fees, lodging, and travel under this scheme, Kejriwal said.
Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Dec 21 inaugurated the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar scholarship for Dalit students who want to go to college.
Kejriwal's declaration comes ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, which are scheduled for February 2025.
The Delhi government will fund Dalit students' higher education through the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship if the AAP is re-elected in Delhi.
After students are accepted to institutions overseas, this will include paying for costs like lodging and transportation.
Kejriwal highlighted that any Dalit student who gets accepted into a foreign university will have all of their expenses covered by the government.
Additionally, Kejriwal declared that the AAP would continue to offer free education to Dalit students up to the 12th grade if it wins the upcoming election.
The party chief also promised the community free coaching to help them get ready for government employment.
“The words used by him (Shah) were derogatory, and the way he spoke was intended to make fun of Ambedkar," Kejriwal said.
Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Home Minister, criticized Amit Shah for his comments about Ambedkar and accused him of mocking him.
“No one could have imagined that in independent India, there would come a day when Ambedkar would be humiliated in the country’s parliament. The very person who gave the nation its constitution would be ridiculed," Kejriwal added.
Earlier, while delivering a speech during the debate on the Constitution, Shah criticized the Congress for allegedly misusing Ambedkar's name for political gains.
"There's a fashion now of saying, 'Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar.' If one takes God's name this many times, one would get into heaven," Shah said.
"Take Ambedkar's name 100 more times, but I will tell you how you really feel about Ambedkar ji. Now that there are many who follow Ambedkar ji, you invoke his name repeatedly,” he added.
