Trump says Israel has agreed to conditions for 60-day Gaza ceasefire, urges Hamas to accept

President Donald Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform has said that Israel has accepted the terms for a 60-day ceasefire agreement in Gaza and called on Hamas to accept the deal "before it only gets worse."

He confirmed that the proposal is being finalized by Qatar and Egypt, who have served as key mediators throughout the ongoing conflict.

The announcement marks the most significant development in ceasefire negotiations in months. While no official confirmation has come from Israeli or Hamas officials, Trump said that the deal’s framework has been agreed upon by the Israeli side and is now awaiting finalization and approval from Hamas leadership.

"This is a great deal for all sides and should be accepted before it only gets worse," Trump posted, signaling that the opportunity for de-escalation may not remain open indefinitely.

He also hinted at an upcoming meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House next week, where the ceasefire and broader regional issues will be discussed.

Trump’s declaration comes amid growing global pressure to bring an end to the devastating conflict, which began after Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attacks.

Since then, Israel’s military operations in Gaza have led to widespread destruction and loss of life. International agencies estimate that over 56,000 Palestinians have been killed and thousands more displaced since the war began.

Although there is no immediate confirmation of Hamas’s position on the deal, prior truce negotiations have failed largely due to disagreements over the terms of hostage releases, prisoner swaps, and Israel’s insistence on Hamas disarmament.

The current proposal is being seen as a last-ditch attempt to achieve a temporary halt in fighting and enable humanitarian aid to reach affected populations in Gaza.
