The suspension aimed to curb overcrowding and enforce Hajj regulations will remain in effect until mid-June 2025, coinciding with the end of this year’s Hajj.

In a significant development ahead of the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, Saudi Arabia has temporarily suspended the issuance of all Umrah, business, and family visit visas for citizens of 14 countries — including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Indonesia.
The suspension will remain in effect until mid-June 2025, coinciding with the end of this year’s Hajj.

The Kingdom’s decision, reported by multiple media outlets, comes as part of a broader initiative to manage the influx of pilgrims and prevent unregistered participation in the sacred journey. Officials cited concerns over overcrowding and safety risks, referencing last year’s tragic stampede that was exacerbated by extreme heat and an overwhelming number of undocumented pilgrims.

The directive, issued under the guidance of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, is designed to streamline visa processes and ensure all pilgrims adhere strictly to legal and safety protocols. Under the revised policy, the final day for Umrah visa applications is April 13, 2025. No new Umrah visas will be processed until after Hajj concludes.
The affected countries include:
In an effort to raise awareness, Saudi authorities have released a multilingual digital guide — available in 16 languages — outlining proper procedures for Hajj and Umrah. The Ministry has also issued a stern warning: individuals found overstaying their visas during Hajj will face a five-year entry ban and a SAR 10,000 fine.
