A ‘mass shooting’ occurred at a park in New York's Rochester area on July 28, killing one person and injuring six others, police said, adding that they were still trying to ascertain the number of shooters and their identities.
According to Rochester Police Department Captain Greg Bello, police officers responded to Maplewood Park at 6:20 pm on July 28 after receiving reports of rounds being fired amid a big gathering. They discovered numerous people with gunshot wounds and a huge crowd leaving the scene.

A 20-year-old died, another is in critical condition, and five others are currently hospitalized with "relatively minor injuries" due to the shooting, police said.

It is possible that the attacker or attackers were targeting only the as yet unidentified 20-year-old man, who took a shot to the head, per some news reports.
No arrests have been made so far.
“At this point we don’t know how many people were shooting. We are trying to work our way through as many witnesses as we can. So far, no arrests have been made, and authorities are asking anyone with information or video footage of the incident to contact 911. The investigation is ongoing,” said Bello.
