Three drones were launched by Lebanon on Oct 19 allegedly targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, of which, one exploded after hitting a building near his private residence in southern Haifa, the Prime Minister's spokesperson said, adding that Netanyahu and his wife were not present at the time of the attack.

"A UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) was launched toward the prime minister's residence in Caesarea. The prime minister and his wife were not at the location, and there were no injuries in the incident," the prime minister's office said in a statement.

The attack comes after Israel killed Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar in Gaza, who orchestrated last year's Oct 7 attack on Israel that triggered.

Two other drones from Lebanon were downed by Israeli air defense triggering sirens in the Tel Aviv area.
According to media reports, no casualties were reported.

Iran-backed fighter group Hezbollah has not claimed the attack. The group based in Lebanon has been exchanging fire with Israel since last October.

The drone reportedly flew about 70 kilometers from Lebanon before hitting the building in Caesarea.

Last month, Israel launched a ground offensive in Lebanon seeking to eliminate Hezbollah from its northern border.

The latest drone attack also comes a day after the Israeli military claimed it destroyed Hezbollah's regional command center in an air strike.

The death toll in Lebanon has climbed to 1,418, since late September, according to figures provided by the Lebanese Health Ministry. However, the actual toll is likely higher.

The Middle East conflict which involves three nations is likely to intensify further after Sinwar's death. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Oct 19 said that Sinwar's death will not stop the “Axis of Resistance.”

"His loss is undoubtedly painful for the Axis of Resistance, but this front did not stop advancing with the martyrdom of prominent figures. Hamas is alive and will remain alive," he was quoted as saying.

The "Axis of Resistance," backed by Iran, includes Hamas, Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Yemen’s Houthi movement, and various Shi’ite groups in Iraq and Syria. The group staunchly opposes Israel and US influence in the Middle East.
