PWD reveals ₹100 crore inventory of Kejriwal's lavish former residence 'Sheesh Mahal', missing ₹12 lakh toilet seats spark controversy

The Public Works Department (PWD) exposed a startling inventory of Delhi's former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's old residence on Oct 20, listing devices, appliances, and other stuff valued at over ₹100 crore.

The luxurious 21,000-square-foot residence, named "Sheesh Mahal" by the opposition, was discovered to contain luxurious amenities.

The PWD prepared the inventory after the Delhi Chief Minister's Office requested it, as Delhi's new Chief Minister, Atishi Marlena, prepared to take over the property.

The most expensive items in the Aam Aadmi Party supremo's previous house were 16 Ultra Slim Smart 4K TVs, motorized window curtains, and exquisite recliner sofas.

A Bose loudspeaker, an OSADA full-body massage chair, and a smart LED TV were among the other luxurious items in the inventory.

The kitchen's high-end gadgets featured a 50-liter microwave, a 73-liter steam oven, a BOSCH Series 8 built-in coffee maker, and smart refrigerators with built-in TVs and AI vision screens.

The home was reportedly said to include 24 ornamental pillars, glass and hardwood doors with automatic sliding sensors, and an extremely expensive water supply and sanitary facilities.

The list also featured lavish lighting fixtures that improved the house's aesthetic appeal, such as 20 magnificent outdoor entry sconces made of aged brass.

Amit Malviya, a BJP spokesperson, claimed on social media that it is astounding that the fully automated TOTO smart toilet seats, which cost between ₹10 and ₹12 lakh each, have not been included in the inventory list.

"The surprise is that these luxury toilet seats, designed for Kejriwal’s comfort, are now missing,” Malviya said.

AAP leader Kejriwal was accused by BJP leaders and workers of squandering public funds for personal luxury while serving as Delhi chief minister, sparking protests around the city.

At his official mansion at 6 Flagstaff Road, Kejriwal allegedly spent lakhs on opulent furnishings and state-of-the-art amenities, according to the BJP leaders.

Earlier this month, Kejriwal left the Flagstaff Road home in Civil Lines after stepping down as Delhi Chief Minister.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva claimed at a protest next to Kejriwal's present home on Firozshah Road that 15 toilet seats that had been built at "Sheeshmahal" (Flagstaff Road house) after spending millions of rupees were missing.

"We are protesting to tell people how Kejriwal spent taxpayers money on toilet seats worth Rs 12 lakhs. Fifteen such toilet seats were stolen," Sachdeva said.

Earlier, amid residence controversy, Chief Minister Atishi said that the BJP might "take over" the Flagstaff Road house and that she would continue to serve the people of Delhi even if it meant working from a street seat.

"Arvind Kejriwal will have to give an account of the crores of rupees from the taxpayers money spent on providing him a luxurious stay at the Sheeshmahal," Sachdeva said.

Alka Gurjar, co-incharge of the Delhi BJP, said that the matter directly affects the people as taxpayers' money was involved and AAP cannot be allowed to "loot" it.
